The joy of mixed-up samples

Ever had that moment where you’re checking samples and realize two patients have completely swapped labels? I had that happen last week with blood work. Thankfully, I caught it before any results were reported, but I had to laugh at the thought of someone getting the wrong blood type results. It’s a good reminder of how meticulous we always need to be, even on a busy day.

You’re lucky you caught it! It’s like mixing up dinner orders — one patient could’ve ended up with a side of confusion instead of the right treatment. I always double-check labels now; it’s the little things that save big headaches. Have you ever had any other close calls?
