Importance of Proficiency Testing

Proficiency testing is crucial for ensuring accuracy in our laboratory results. Recently, I participated in a program that assessed our hemoglobin A1c testing, and the discrepancies from our results highlighted some areas for improvement. I’m interested in hearing about others’ experiences with proficiency testing and how it’s affected your lab’s practices.

I’ve found participating in proficiency testing really shines a light on our blind spots. In our lab, we had a similar experience with hemoglobin A1c testing; it helped us pinpoint inconsistencies that we never would’ve caught otherwise. It might also be worth looking into external audits alongside this to get a broader view. @labtechgroup has some great insights on this topic.
