On my 3–11pm shift, I split time between embedding/sectioning and keeping the gear running — blade changes, processor QC logs, and cryostat defrost. How do you schedule maintenance without hurting turnaround when a late batch drops (we had 58 blocks hit at 6:10 tonight)?
I block a 20-minute “protected” window around 7:45 for upkeep, but bump it if the queue tops 30; blades get swapped preemptively at 6:00 so late drops don’t steal time… For “58 blocks at 6:10”, I’d push cryostat defrost to last case and do processor QC while runs spin, like an F1 pit stop; would a simple threshold rule plus pre-staged consumables work for you?
